SCIATICA TREATMENT

Find the source of your pain. Treat the problem. Get back to living.

Sciatica can turn everyday activities into a struggle. Whether you’re experiencing shooting leg pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness, the key to lasting relief is understanding what’s irritating your sciatic nerve in the first place. We focus on identifying the underlying cause of your sciatica. Because unless you do, you won’t get the relief that you are looking for.

What Does Sciatica Feel Like?

Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve or the nerve roots that contribute to it become irritated or compressed. Symptoms can range from mild discomfort to debilitating pain that travels from your lower back into your leg.

  • Radiating leg pain: Sharp, shooting, or aching pain that travels from the lower back or buttock down the thigh, calf, and sometimes into the foot.

  • Numbness and tingling: Pins and needles, burning sensations, or unusual sensitivity in the leg or foot.

  • Muscle weakness: Difficulty moving the leg or foot normally, including foot drop that may cause tripping.

    What Causes Sciatica?

Sciatica is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Lasting relief starts with identifying what’s causing the nerve irritation.

    1. Herniated or Bulging Discs

When disc material pushes outward and irritates or compresses a nearby nerve root, pain can radiate down the leg. This is a common cause of sciatica.

    2. Degenerative Disc Changes

Over time, spinal discs can lose hydration and height, while arthritic changes and bone spurs may narrow the spaces available for nerves. This can contribute to nerve compression and leg pain.

    3. Piriformis and Other Soft-Tissue Problems

In some cases, irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve in the buttock can cause symptoms similar to those originating in the spine.

Different causes can produce similar symptoms. That’s why identifying the source matters.

    Why Identifying the Cause Matters

We look beyond the location of your pain to understand the underlying problem. You don’t have to accept persistent leg pain as your new normal. If sciatica is interfering with your work, sleep, exercise, or everyday life, the first step is understanding what’s causing it. We will evaluate your medical history, physical examination, and imaging when appropriate to help determine an effective treatment plan.

Our goal isn’t simply to help you feel better today. It’s to help you achieve meaningful, lasting relief.

Our approach emphasizes treating the contributing problem whenever possible, rather than relying exclusively on temporary symptom relief.
